Rabat, the capital of Morocco, is a city rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Here is a selection of must-see places to visit during your stay.

Hassan Tower

A symbol of Rabat, Hassan Tower is an unfinished minaret that dominates the city. Built in the 12th century under the reign of Sultan Yacoub el-Mansour, it was intended to be the largest mosque in the Muslim world. Today, the tower and its columns offer a majestic site not to be missed.

Mohammed V Mausoleum

Located next to Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum houses the tombs of King Mohammed V and his sons, Hassan II and Moulay Abdallah. This architectural masterpiece of white marble is richly decorated with zelliges and stuccos, and its interior is of imperial elegance.

Kasbah of the Oudayas

Perched on the heights of Rabat, the Kasbah of the Oudayas is a historic district overlooking the mouth of the Bouregreg. Stroll through its streets with white and blue houses, visit its Andalusian garden, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a haven of peace in the heart of the city.

Rabat Medina

Less touristy than Marrakech, Rabat’s medina is a lively and authentic place. Its bustling streets are filled with artisan shops, markets, and traditional cafes where you can enjoy a mint tea. It is the perfect place to experience daily life and pick up some souvenirs.

Chellah

Chellah is an ancient necropolis and fortress dating back to the Roman and medieval periods. Its ruins, lush gardens, and the storks nesting on the ruins offer a setting steeped in mystery and serenity. It is a must-visit for history and nature enthusiasts.

Royal Palace of Rabat

The official residence of the King of Morocco, the Royal Palace is a vast complex surrounded by gardens. Although access inside is restricted, you can admire its architecture from the outside and visit the surrounding area, including the Mechouar esplanade, where official events take place.

Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

Opened in 2014, this museum houses works by Moroccan and international artists. Its collections reflect the richness of modern and contemporary art in Morocco, and the elegant architecture of the building makes it a cultural space in its own right.
